[New Products] Apple’s iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, iPod Shuffle

March 12, 2009  |  Apple, New Products

I have really been a bad blogger, Apple has announced a couple of new toys and I was such a bad little girl that I didn’t blog about them.  I think I should be punished *looks around for punishment*

So a few weeks ago Apple announced the revamped versions of most of it’s awesome hardware and I am drooling over an iMac right now since well I’ve seen Swair’s 24 inch iMac and fell in love with it’s screen and beauty.  My Windows XP Desktop is just killing me, I keep worrying about viruses and trojans and spyware and crap and it’s just too much for me.  I think the best time to purchase an iMac would be when I have a dedicated Apple Room in my future house (not that I have one yet but soon maybe who knows ;P)

So let’s get to it:

1. iMac Early 2009

So what’s new with the iMac?  Well apart from them eliminating most of the 20″ models and just keeping 1 base model for that screen size, the prices seem to be lower for more powerful machines.  We now have:

imac

  1.  20″ screen, 2.66Ghz, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce 9400M going for the price of $1,199
  2. 24″ screen, 2.66Ghz, 4GB RAM, 640GB HDD, SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce 9400M going for the price of $1,499
  3. 24″ screen, 2.93Ghz, 4GB RAM, 640GB HDD, SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce GT 120 with 256MB Memory going for the price of $1,799
  4. 24″ screen, 3.06Ghz, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD, SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce GT 130 with 512MB Memory going for the price of $2,199

So if I were to get one it would definitely be #2 or #4 depending on how much I would want to spend :P

2. Mac Mini Early 2009

Now this machine well is for those who wish to dip their tiny little legs into Apple and are afraid of it, so why not test out the waters with it.  The changes are minimal but still good enough, here are the new specs:

macmini

  1. 2.0Ghz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HDD, SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce 9400M Graphics going for the price of $599
  2. 2.0 Ghz, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce 9400M Graphics going for the price of $799

Now this is a model which I won’t be getting into unless well I just wanted to collect more Apple gadgets :P

3. Mac Pro Early 2009

This machine doesn’t interest me much because well I would never need such a powerful beast but here are it’s specs:

macpro

  1. Quad Core- One 2.66Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon Nehalem Processor, 3GB RAM, 640GB HDD, 18x SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce GT 120 with 512MB going for the price of $2,499
  2. 8-Core – Two 2.26Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem Processors, 6GB RAM, 640GB HDD, 18x SuperDrive, Nvidia GeForce GT 120 with 512MB going for the price of $3,299

And last but not least the new iPod Shuffles

ipodshuffles

Which are the next beautiful things for those who like to work out or like to listen to their music on the go without taking their ipods out of their pockets/bags/or wherever they put them in.  It comes in 4GB which is a lot of memory for such a tiny thing, and well it’s such a tiny little toy that I can’t help but want one, and going for the price of 79$ I don’t mind shelling that much out for it.

  1. go for #2, its worth every penny and its extremely practical. ust upgrade the internal HDisk if you have alot of media files like me.

  2. I want an updated version of the iPod Touch with 64 GB!!! There are thin drives and they can do it now, but I think they just want to make sure they can get cheap prices for the products!

The Mac Pro looks powerful! And the Mac Mini looks to be a success!

  3. Abdullah : Guess what? I went with #3 hehe and it’s AWESOME, LOVES IT!!!!

Marzouq : Who knows they might release that this summer, they are looking towards releasing 32GB iPhone so iPod Touch will have to increase its storage capacity hehe. The Mac mini is just basic so it’s for those who want to dip their tiny feet into the Mac World but great.
