Zain, Wataniya, VIVA Who is the best?
So I’m in a wondering stage at the moment. I’ve got my beautiful iPhone 4 with me at the moment however I’ve been experiencing dropped calls with Zain when on the 3G network and just plain slowness. My bills are never stable every month, some months I pay 30KD some more. I can never be sure where exactly my money is going. Only issue at the moment is that I am attached to my phone number, and the majority of my family are either Zain or Wataniya (the Aunt and Uncles I speak to mostly are on Zain – Dad, Mom and sisters are Wataniya). I am looking for the better deal for my buck and this is what I currently am subscribed to at the moment.
The better coverage, signal, deal for the 1KD, good 3G speeds, is what I am looking for.
Current package: Wiyana 19KD + Mobile Internet 7 KD (Speed 1Mbps, Usage 1GB) + 0.500 KD MissU = Brings the total to 26.500 KD what I should be paying monthly. I have yet to see that.
I seem to be liking the VIVA More package since you can customize it and I can get the same if not better package for around 21KD -> 24KD a month.
Please help :)

If you don’t know where your money is going, you need to check your bill. You might be overcharged and may get nice refund
although am currently with zain, i would highly recommend u joining viva (i will do the same but after the law is passed to carry ur number to other carriers). My friends are using viva and i love the feature to see all ur logs online with the price next to every single log. I swear i get crazy bills after summer when traveling and it kills me not knowing where and how i was charged. Plus viva today has a better internet service (faster and stable during peak hours, from my experience with their e-go). Am carrying my iphone 4 as a second phone and got a viva micro sim, am loving the speed! Viva are new which makes them always improving and bringing new stuff (deals, features…ect) to attract people into changing to viva. The only downside is their coverage, although its improving, you will find places that have low coverage especially like remote areas but to be honest its getting better and better as they are setting up towers here and there and catching up with zain and watania, but thats normal since they’re new.
anyways, wish u the very best
here is a photo i just took from my iphone 4 showing the speed test
p.s. i swear i have nothing to do with viva, but i hate zain (7arameyaaa)! :p
:P they all suck…I’ve tried them all and faught with them all! BUT my face is Wataniya..cuz i have Zain now and the service wayed ta3ban :/ 3ad viva..don’t get me started!!! wee3 akrahum!…Thats me though maybe others have had better luck..in genral bawageen oo mako nicer packages here in Kuwait. and congrats on the iphone;)
All of them are the same. I use Wataniya basic plan (iPhone 3G). Lots of dropped calls on 3G, slow internet connection, and worst of all it sucks your pockets dry. One day your account is less than 10KD, the next day +30KD!
And like you said, I’m attached to my number and changing it right now after 8 years won’t help at all.
I would suggest you to wait till the end of the year, that’s when the Number Portability is going to come in, you can jump providers but you will still have the same number….
great comparison between the 3, thanksss !
doesnt matter which service provider u choose, cuz hopefully by the last quarter of this year clients will be able to change providers but keep the numbers! yay!
WATANIYA!!!!!!!
You might want to read my post: . I’m going through the same trail of thought so please update us if you’ve figured out the economic solution :P
I’m interested to know what you would choose. I’m on the same boat as you!
Wow and I thought it was just me! There are many months when I go pay my bill at a Zain machine with a big question mark over my head: huh?
Basically, there are months where I use my phone A LOT, and get lower bills than in other months where I barely use it. I dont understand the billing system and it worries me. Theres some ripping off going on obviously and no ones doing anything about it! Thats scary.
None of the mobile carriers are great, but my best bet is on Viva. Theyre new, they wanna penetrate the market, theyll do what they can to give you a good impression:) not to forget, theyre the only carrier which I can go through from the first try when calling from a landline!
Basees : I do but sometimes I feel I don’t know things are just too expensive now and I really don’t like that the Blackberry Service is this expensive it’s double what subscribers pay in the US. And oh well we’ll see how things go thanks though for the advice :)
Fawaz : I was thinking of VIVA as well but the thing is I don’t hear much good recommendations most of the time it’s either negative and a few good or I dunno. And I saw their logs it’s awesome! And my number one reason to change to VIVA would be their Internet Service all their Internet packages with the Voice line start at 7.2mbps which is great! And who knows by end of this year they will have better coverage. Thanks again for your kind words.
SweetD : Thanks and I dunno Wataniya Coverage is good but I think their packages are old still I hate how out of them all they have the lowest Internet speeds for their Mobile Phone plans. VIVA is great in terms of packages and pricing I guess. Zain is just old and that’s it.
MacaholiQ8 : Yalla let’s see what happens at the end of this year and if we can port our numbers and try different service providers.
Name is Bond : Yeah that’s what I’m going to end up doing.
TaZmaNiA : Thanks although I still didn’t compare them yet.
maryam : Yeah hopefully that’ll come then and we’ll see about the choice.
Summer : But I don’t like them much :/
3baid : I will update and yeah I read it hehehe tried most of it but oh well this month I haven’t spoken much on the phone I dunno why though but we’ll see how the bill comes.
Rotsu : A Zain User as well? :P Shfeeena all Zain I think it’s the oldest out there.
Linda : Exactly what I’m thinking and who knows hopefully when we can port our numbers we can se differences.
