Road Maintenance

January 26, 2012  |  Pissed Off

It seems that those who process the road construction jobs are idiots or imbeciles! You see my Grandma’s house is in Abu Al Hasani area and for the past few years the roads were mediocre (well let’s face it they weren’t there) and all of a sudden starting last month they started construction on them.

They started laying out the pipes for the Waterworks I guess but the stupid thing is that they blocked every single entrance and exit for the people living there! The project is apparently supposed to go on until summer and day by day the newly found routes are getting closed down!

It used to take me 10 minutes to get there from our home and now it’s close to 20 just because I go around in circles trying to find an alternate route in! Every single entrance has a huge hole with a huge pipe and workers there!

I just visit there every week, imagine those who are living there.  Especially those who have lower cars (i.e. Porsches, Jaguars, Mercedes sporty cars, etc.) I just got a brand new jeep and was able to not hurt my car manuevering my way in through all that sand but imagine a Porsche 911 trying to get to their home with some rocks laying there in the midst of the sand!

Kuwait Baladiya Stupid People GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER! Finish one area then move onto the next don’t just go all over the place! Structurize your shit! Seriously!

  1. It’s annoying, I agree. Same thing happens to me in Kuwait City with all the road blocks for the 1st ring road. I get lost and usually arrive late for my appointments.

  2. 3yal u should hv seen the way we lived in Hateen like 10 yrs ago! it was like hell, i’d literary go to uni covered with mud coz of the rain, construction work bla bla bla! ghabaaaa2 & they dont know how to handle such situations!

  3. I hope this doesn’t take forever! Wallah 3aib :/

  4. I live in Al-Jabriya. We are experiencing this “hell” for more than a year now. I hate it, I hate to get out of my house and drive through these roads. IT IS really annoying, I agree with you. However, “finish one area then move on to the next one” is not the solution. This solution will make the process of finishing the whole “man6aga” takes longer and longer time. In my opinion, the solution is… GET A PROPER WORKERS who can finish this job in a shorter period! Believe me, I’ve seen them working!! they are very slow and most of them don’t want to work for more than an hour a day. They usually set chatting with each other and/or waiting for nearby neighbors to bring them lunch!!! and then they leave by 1:00 PM EVERY SINGLE DAY.

I think the reason for the workers to do that is because their salary is pay-as-you-work. and they get paid by days of working not by month. So they spend a whole week to place one pipe, and they get paid every single day for only one pipe!! Clever but e7na elle nakelha :)

    olaa chene geragt wayed?! :P

  5. Miss Good Egg : Totally hehe no one arrives early anymore due to the traffic and closed roads.

swera : LOL! That’s crazy and yeah they don’t know how to plan things.

    Nunu-San : I hope so too :/

Hussain : I agree better workers equals quicker results but where do you get those? And allah e3eeenkom 3al Jabriya it’s hell without construction I can’t imagine it with construction!
