[Travel Log] When Starving Have McDonalds
The second day of my trip started earlier than I thought, since I slept at 8:00 p.m. the night before (Sept 30) I woke up earlier than ever, hell I never woke up that early when I was in Kuwait, the time was 7:00 p.m. Sleeping on the sofa bed was not insanely comfortable but at least it was a thousand times more comfortable than sleeping on that chair on the plane. Although we were up early we didn’t end up going out until 1:00 p.m. when Sister #3 (
Had I been here on my own, I would’ve been out with Sister #4 (N) walking the entire way to 34th Street, but being that I was with D and Mom we took a taxi cab all the way there and spent a few hours going through the different floors. Being the gadget freak that I am I did not enjoy the endless hours but I kept quiet and let mother browse around while D kept on advising her not to purchase this or that since it wasn’t worth it. We stepped out and decided to walk around a bit before heading out to have lunch. While walking I saw my favorite store Brookstone and made sure we passed through. They have the weirdest and coolest things ever! But needless to say I didn’t purchase anything yet, I have to pace myself it’s easier that way and will end up saving cash better that.
Apart from Macy’s, Mother is a major fan of JC Penny and after asking for some directions since Apple Maps was pretty much worthless at one point or another we found it within Manhattan Mall. We looked around and then decided that since it was 4:00 p.m. and we are hungry we should have lunch, I tried to find a nearby restaurant something worthwhile but unfortunately the closest thing that Mother felt comfortable eating was McDonalds. So in we went, ordered our food and had some down time eating.
We finished having lunch and D was tired so we decided to go back home, and I wanted to do it the true New York way, by walking all the way home. Mother and D didn’t trust my navigation skills and since I ditched Apple Maps and turned on Google Maps I was able to get them to walk all the way down to home, of course we experienced a hiccup in which we reached 7th avenue instead of going down to 3rd avenue but then we were on the right path. N gave me a silver star since a gold star can only be earned if you walk to and from your destination. After arriving home we decided to rest a bit and later on Mother wanted to visit TJ Maxx, Marshall, and I wanted to check out Bed Bath & Beyond. So we went out just the two of us, and I was amused by Mother’s expression when we entered Bed Bath & Beyond since it’s a very big branch and it had literally everything. The whole point of me going out the second time was hopefully getting a chance to go to Best Buy! My home away from home, yes one of them any gadget store is like a candy store for me. But unfortunately it got too late and we headed back home by 8:00 p.m.
The sisters ordered for us some Afghani food which was okay, and we ended up watching a rented movie off of Amazon Prime on my sister’s Internet TV. And that ended our day two of adventures, it lacked any gadgets but it was still fun. The more I eat the less I gain as I am walking all around the place.
Let’s see what Day 3 brings us.
