[Fall TV 2013 Preview] Anna Faris is the new “Mom” on CBS

Chuck Lorre, the creator of “Two and a Half Men”, “Mike & Molly”, and “The Big Bang Theory” decided to bring a new sitcom “Mom” to the small screen at CBS starring the beautiful Anna Faris as a single recovering alcoholic mom raising two children and trying to get by life with its numerous hardships.  Is the show worth the watch?  Does it live up to the Chuck Lorre reputation established at CBS with those three hit shows?  Find out the answer in the mini-preview below.

Mom

Network: (CBS)

Premiere Aired: Mondays September 23rd

Starring: Anna Faris (What’s Your Number), Allison Janney (Mr. Sunshine), Sadie Calvano (Melissa & Joey), Blake Garrett Rosenthal (New Girl), Nate Corddry (Harry’s Law), French Stewart (3rd Rock from the Sun), Matt Jones (Breaking Bad), and Spencer Daniels (The Office).

About: Anna Faris stars as the newly sober single mom ‘Christy’ who is raising two children from different fathers and trying to make ends meet as a waitress.  Unfortunately she doesn’t have it easy especially when she finds out that her teenage daughter is now an expectant mother herself, just like her at the age of 16, luckily for Anna’s character, her mother Allison Janney ‘Bonnie’ steps right in to save the day and try to help out, but alls not well in Christy’s household and we get to see it unfold in a 30 minute sitcom.

Thoughts: From the pilot episode I noticed plenty of similarties between this show and previous Chuck Lorre projects, especially with the “Mike & Molly” show.  It seems as if he is borrowing not only set designs and cars but sometimes some actors show up where you know you’ve seen them on any of the other shows Lorre has produced.  It felt a little stiff for me, with cliche stories happening here and there.  Do I like it that much? No.  Will I keep watching it? Yes until it gets cancelled simply because I’ve been a fan of Anna Faris for a while and Allison Janney is not bad herself.  Do I think it will get the axe? Yes pretty much sure about it.

Rating: [WATCH WHEN NOTHING IS ON]
