[Fall TV 2013 Preview] Rebel Wilson’s “Super Fun Night” on ABC

October 9, 2013  |  Fall TV 2013, Preview, TV

Rebel Wilson dazzled us all in her last movie “Pitch Perfect” and “Bridesmaids” and well Conan O’Brien decided it was time to launch her into a show he would be producing and which would be called “Super Fun Night.” Was it really super fun? Will you keep wanting to see more of it?  I’ll answer all of those questions in my mini-review found below.

Super Fun Night

Network: (ABC)

Premiere Aired: Wednesdays October 2nd

Starring: Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect), Liza Lapira (Don’t Trust the B in Apt 23), Lauren Ash (The Ron James Show), and Kevin Bishop (Pinky and Perky Show).

About: So, Rebel Wilson is playing a junior attorney named Kimmie Boubier (pronounced Booobier) who has two best friends Helen-Alice and Marika.  They have a standing date every Friday night for the last 13 years which they call ‘Friday Fun Night’: ‘Always together! Always Inside!’ However, now that she’s been promoted she is working with her idol “Lady Lawyer of the Year” Felicity Vanderstone, and she happens to meet the boss’s son, handsome British attorney, Richard Lovell (Kevin Bishop), who starts to include her in things.  Kimmie is determined to spend time with Richard and take Felicity’s advice to network as well as participate with her friends as much as she can so she decides to convince them to take “Super Fun Night” out on the road.

Thoughts: Usually I’m cracking up at anything Rebel Wilson says, however this pilot episode was a bit blah for me.  I felt it was too cliche and all the jokes were flat.  I couldn’t laugh at the fat jokes, I could laugh at her type of comedy and I just felt sorry as a whole for the series itself.  I felt bad that this was the show they brought when they decided to cancel my lovely “Happy Endings” and I really do think this will be one of the first shows to get the axe.  I might be a bit harsh but I guess it all depends on the next episode if it starts to be funnier I might change my mind.

Rating: [Skip it, not worth burning those brain cells]
