New Shows

October 3, 2006  |  Uncategorized

Many of you might not like the approach I will be taking in this post but I seriously thought I should write this post regardless. Last year marked the year where alot of my favorite shows ended and therefore I had to replace some of them since I ended up following only 3 shows in the end, all I watch now that has been around for a while is Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, and Desperate Housewives. Otherwise everything else is gone. So I decided to approach this post by mentioning the shows that I have been following now and giving you my two cents about each show in summary form.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: (NBC) 10:00PM Mondays

Now this is a show that I have truly fallen in love with, I recently caught the 3rd episode of it and I can honestly say that this is where Matthew Perry truly shines as Matt Albie and Bradley Whitford as Danny Tripp as well as Amanda Peet as Jordan McDeer. I find these three characters to be truly entertaining throughout the show. It is a drama basically telling the story of what happens behind the scenes on a comedy show such as “Saturday Night Live” but here it’s called “Studio 60″ and from what I’ve seen so far I think that this one is going to go far, I am even hoping that they get nominated this year for an Emmy, it might be a bit premature but seriously if you ever caught an episode of it, you’ll realize how the writing of this show is incredibly smart. So I rate this show a “MUST SEE” for everyone out there.

The Class: (CBS) 8:00PM Mondays

Now this is a sitcom, a 30 minute show brought to you from the creator of Friends “David Crane” and the brilliant director “James Burrows” who directed none other than Will & Grace. After watching Studio 60 I realize that the writer/creator of the show and the Director is the most important relationship. This show is light, it’s basically about this guy wanting to surprise his fiancee by throwing her a party with all of their 3rd grade class to commemorate their anniversary of the first time they ever met back in the 3rd grade, but things back fire and you see some of the characters rekindling old sparks, or friendships. It’s cute and it helps pass your time. I would rate this show as “SEE IF YOU’D LIKE TO LAUGH” ;)

Heroes: (NBC) 9:00PM Mondays

Now this show is a bit deep for my taste, it’s something that I don’t know why but it clicked with me after the first episode, a new episode is out but I haven’t had the time to watch it yet. However, from what I’ve seen it seems interesting. It’s a serial saga about people all over the world discovering that they have superpowers and that they are trying to deal with it. It shows different people really, a cheerleader who has cheated death many times, a 30 year old nurse who can fly, a painter who when high can paint into the future (paint things that will happen in the future), as well as many other characters. My ultimate favorite is the Japanese guy who can stop time. I really liked it but I doubt that it would see another season simply because there are many shows like it out there, I believe Lost can be compared to it without the supernatural or superpower case but who knows, only time can tell. For this show I would rate it as “Freaky to watch, but deep.

Til Death: (FOX) 8:00PM Thursdays

A show that is basically lame in its own way but fun to watch because I simply don’t have anything better to do. It’s about two married couples, one that has been married for quite a while and another that is recently married and recently moved into the house next door. It features Brad Garrett the tall guy from Everybody Loves Raymond and Joeley Fischer who was on Desperate Housewives last season for a couple of episodes. As I said before it’s not that hilariously funny but it’s fun to pass time with and I am sure this show won’t last past one season, might even be cut off mid-season but its nice to watch. I rate it as “If you’ve got nothing to do, watch it.

ugly-betty.jpg

Ugly Betty: (ABC) 8:00PM Thursdays

This show is based on a wildly popular Columbian Telenovella but this version stars America Ferrara as Betty Suarez a smart, hard working, dedicated woman who wants to make it in the fashion industry yet her looks aren’t what the Fashion Industry requires. Fashion requires a hip, classy, hot, young woman and well Betty is not all that but it’s nice to see how they are trying to break the cliche of a Hot Woman getting everything. This is brought to you by Salma Hayek and you get to see bits and pieces of Salma throughout the show I believe on the Television set there. Vanessa L. Williams Stars and the guy that plays Daniel Meade is kind of a jerk but nice to watch hehe. I would rate this show as “Must watch, for the time being.
happy-hour.jpg

Happy Hour: (FOX) 8:30PM Thursdays

Now this is a sitcom that brings forth a very different story line, basically Henry Beckman was leading the perfect life and everything until his girlfriend threw him out of their apartment and he finds out that a tenant in the same building was looking for a roommate, Larry Cone, and therefore he goes there and the guy lives basically in his own world. He sells T-shirts online and has a weird set of morals and stuff. It’s funny how Larry finds that Henry’s life is so entertaining that he no longer misses his television. Currently this sitcom is on hiatus after 3 episodes, the next episode will air in November, why you ask? I am not sure but I liked it, it’s fun seeing the thing and Henry is so funny hehe. I would rate this as “Enjoyable to watch.

And with that, I call this a day. I hope this guide to what I find nice and entertaining this year helps out those poor souls who have missed their old shows. I believe these shows beat the Ramadan TV Series hands down. However my next post will be discussing the season premieres not in detail, but briefly of the shows that I watch, Season 3 of Desperate Housewives, Season 7 of Gilmore Girls, Season 4 of One Tree Hill, and Season 2 of Weeds, but Weeds I’ve spoken about it and the season began quite a while ago, it’s almost over for this season though.

And that my friends is how the cookie crumbles. Enjoy and those who don’t feel like reading not a problem.
