What would you understand from this title? Well in 4 simple short words “I want a car!” I believe that 3 years and half or actually almost 4 with my current car, a nasty little thing, is more than enough. It served its purpose in college, being good enough to bump here and there, and served well as a beginner driver’s car (me the driver). So now that I have graduated, that I have decided to take exactly a year off, until February 2007 before I move onto my Masters, and now that I have decided to start working I believe driving a Ford Focus is no longer that cool :P It quit being cool 2 weeks after I got it really well not really hehe but still you can get the picture there.
So what is my budget you ask? Well it’s 10 thousand KD maximum.
What am I looking for? Well anything really whether its an SUV or a coupe or a sedan (but a coupe and SUV) are more acceptable to me.
Why am I mentioning this here? Because I need opinions on what you guys would think is a more me car? :P And really because I wanna hear the options there are for cars within that range.
Now that I got that part out of the way, Uncle dearest has suggested that he could get me a VW Touareg Jeep for 10 thou with a sun-roof, and mostly I guess the full options I guess and that I should most likely go towards that. (I checked it out online and it looks hot, but I am worried about shifting from a hatchback car which is tiny to a jeep, afraid of judging distances to become off a bit :P But I hope it’ll be hot). Another car I saw and liked was the Infiniti G35 Coupe but I am not sure about it’s price really, it really looks sexy and I would be fine driving that.

So technically my vision at the moment or my choices for myself are between those two cars, however any other choices that you might think to suggest are welcomed here. I am hoping to go tomorrow (if the showrooms are open) to test drive the two above mentioned cars and check out what they got and what are the offers on them basically, so I’ll leave my decisions on those for later to see which is most likely me. Jack however states that the Touareg would be perfect for me, goes with my complextion he says :P Nah I’m just kidding really hehehe.
So any opinions?

If you’re planning to leave for grad school within 1 year, I would recommend not buying a car. Save the money for buying a car in the states, or a 2nd powerbook or something ;P
A car would lose it value with time, think more about it.
you say 10,000 KD budget as if it is your money and you earned it working, so unless that is the case, just accept what you get :P

the VW SUV looks really good, besides, you can always climb sidewalks easily with it, which is highly needed in Kuwait :)
nce, Yea I know, I just called him up he told me it’ll be from the outside shops not wekala and that for 10,500 it’ll be semi-full option but it’ll be driven for a bit not completely 0 mileage. Lexus GS300 is amazing but I am not sure about it, since it starts at 13 thousand I guess.

Dr. Lost, Lexus IS350 doesn’t tickle me senseless and the BMW Z4 is awesome really but not for me, I need at least 4 seats in a car :/ not a squished one :r, I would love to own a 2 seater one day, maybe I will :P
Shopa, Mother dearest is getting the car as a grad gift for me, and it won’t be used only by myself, it’ll be more like family-ish car you know. Sister will start to drive at the end of the year that I have outlined for myself as “break time”

There is the new Ford Mustang , it’s a bit less than 10 grand. Great shape and spectacular performance.

RX8 = Rotary Engine (Try finding a mechanic to fix that.)
My 0.02$ .. go with the Touareg .. its an amazing car that can withstand anything you throw at it (I hit a deer!). The G35 is a bit low for Kuwaiti streets and you will either destroy it .. or baby it. As for sports cars, whats the point? The country is small enough anyway .. you are just going to get there 5 minutes early.
Jiji, I know Porsche is like the shit really! And I would totally go for it but still ugh! I guess I should be at least in my late twenties to go for that with a second car in hand that is so that I won’t out-use my baby! So next car would be a Porsche nummy!
M2D, I don’t want to go with anything such as Nissan, Honda, Toyota, no matter how good and practical they are, I would seriously like a nice car for the second time you know, I have a Ford and I seriously am hating it, so I am aiming for something a bit bigger, who knows.

a wee bit too late. but last i checked..the G35 doesn’t come with that funky screen in the middle. it looks dreary in the interior. thank “Gulf Specifications” for that heh
