Saying goodbye to the twenties felt like a sad thing really, I was sad for a little tiny bit because I will be closing that chapter in my life until I realized that in my twenties I learned a lot of things and I matured to a different level which meant that a lot of mistakes were formed and heart aches, etc. So, saying Hello to the Thirties might not be such a bad thing after all, it just means I’m at a wiser stage in life and feeling more powered and confident in my skin! That’s when I realized I should just say Happy Birthday to the 30 year old me and embrace it.
Many people would have long check lists of things to do in their twenties, I thought of keeping one of those but then thought why should I live life by a checklist, why not be spontaneous and take it one day at a time and see how the tide takes me over that hill. Which is why this past year I didn’t have a checklist but I did experience some things for the first time. I met my beloved Steve Wozniak (had it been Steve Jobs I would’ve just died), I met Zachary Levi the gorgeous nerd from “Chuck” (had it been Ian Somerhalder or Matt Bomer or James Franco or even Johnny Depp I would’ve just died, came back, and died again a couple of times). I got to have my first surgery ever (not that it was a fun thing but interesting to say something), I made more friends, kicked out others from the friends list and just embraced it. I don’t know what else I did but I know that I took some risks. I do hope that this year brings me an INSANE amount of happiness and joy! And to you all as well.
To my fellow Sagittarian birthdays I also wish you a Happy one! And Happy Birthday Little Jimmy (that’s me)!
What a way to end my last day as a twenty-something, I was invited by Habchi & Chalhoub to attend a special event in which the stylist AlAnoud Badr (@Fozaza) presented the MICHAEL Michael Kors Holiday 2013 collection at their Avenues Store.
We were given a glimpse into what’s new and what’s hot and Ms. AlAnoud showed us her stylistic magic touch by presenting different looks using the Michael Kors Collection.
It’s officially my blog’s ninth birthday! What a journey this has been! Happy Birthday Bloggie Woogie! “Cause mami I’ve done been around the world, seen a lot of places… been around your girl believe I read faces…” Woops scratch that, I’ve been listening to some r&b music [P Diddy feat. Ginuwine - I Need a Girl (Pt.2)] but seriously I am very proud of my achievements.
This past year of blogging has seen some improvements, Jacqui has become a doll that roams around abandoned warehouses, again scratch that I meant visits events and attends gatherings not to mention gaining a slight more readership when it comes to this humble abode. Life is simple, life is sweet, and I’m really enjoying this journey. I don’t want to take a lot of your time but here are some links to my past celebrations, and I’m hoping that I’ll be around to welcome in the big TEN!
To all my closest and dearest friends and family THANK YOU! To all my new friends I’m proud to have met and gotten to know you! And to all you other strangers, “Hello!” :)
To better understand my craziness and wackiness be sure to read through “The Eight Faces of Jacqui” a post I wrote last year describing my growth as I went along.
“I don’t want no cake on my Birthday… I want my cake everyday everyday” -Flo Rida “Birthday”
It’s that time of the year again! One full year has passed ever since the last 4th of December and I am now another year YOUNGER! It’s true what they say the moment you reach a certain age you just stop and age backwards and well I am at that point right now! Hehehe I’m young at heart and that’s the most important thing ever. This past year has been good to me, I had a job that I enjoyed going to, I met new people (some of whom I fell in love with) and well in short 2012 was beautiful! There were some of the ups and downs to go along the way but everything is “all goood!”
The only downer is that last week something happened (will discuss in a future post and not be a Debbie Downer here) and that’s about it for me.
I really hope that this upcoming year kicks last years tush and turns into something even more amazing and better than before. My upcoming year is an open book, it’s a clear slate, and well let’s face it I’m just waiting to get some nice lovely words on those pages to write the next chapter of my life. I really am grateful for everything, for loving and supportive parents (no I am not getting anything from this plug, I just had to say it hehe being a gadget-freak I got most of my birthday gifts early this year :(), some cool sisters (yes some of you are cool, and the rest are AWESOME! [read: Lujain :P]), amazing friends, and just amazing everything!
There is literally nothing I could ask for in this world, other than to have peace (I feel like I’m waiting to win a Miss World pageant here) and love to go all around. Oh and a brand new 27″ (semi-maxed out) iMac would not hurt, it would certainly make my day! So to everyone out there who made a difference in my life, I LOVES YOUS!
For the rest of you, enjoy the following Birthday Playlist (it’s ghetto and I just love it!):
In the past two years I have re-met a lovely wonderful amazing young woman called Swera, we reconnected via a mutual friend (Thanks Swair for that Baby Shower of yours years ago!) and rekindled our non-existant friendship which should’ve occured during our college years. You see both Swera and I went to Kuwait University and studied English Literature the only thing was we never ran in the same circles, we had similar classes (Shout out to: Dr. Jamal Bouresli’s class I want to say Modern Drama but I forget :/) but we never saw each other, other than for the occasional hello.
The moment I found out she was a blogger we started to rekindle our relationship and establish a friendship I am proud to say that is so strong (mashalla, knocks on wood) that I consider her my sister more than my friend. I am very proud to have known such an amazing woman, proud of the person she has become, of the obstacles she has surpassed and will continue to be proud of the woman she will be, the loving mother and so much. It is on this lovely day that said friend is turning a year YOUNGER! And I would like to be one of the first to wish her a “Happy Birthday” in my special way! So without further ado!
Happy Birthday Babes :*** I wish you the happiest 19th Birthday ever! And may all your wishes come true! (Not that you need anymore since you have me in your life :P Hehehe)
a Kuwaiti Gadget Freak who is obsessively in love with Apple Products so much that she probably has everything made by Apple. Currently she's being a lazy bum and putting off writing and everything else but when she does this is her space where she likes to vent and release everything, so welcome to it. A blogger for the past 8 years and still loving it.
