I know I’m an Apple freak but last year I got seduced by the Blackberry Playbook and I actually purchased one from Omaha Nebraska while visiting my sister. Unfortunately I got bored of it quickly as it didn’t give me much functionality and hence it was lost in my room until I found it underneath a pile of books.
Well guess what?
Today, right now, the 2.0 Update is available which will magically transfer your Playbook into something else (I keep fearing I will write Playboy but then again I might not tehehe).
I can’t really take the time off from my day of walking around the city to sit and write about my adventures but sometimes I just feel that I have to! Because what I’ve done these past few days was awesome! I will tell you guys more but let me summarize my New York stay in just a few words right now and also include my gadget shopping spree I went on!
New York (I Love YOU!)
May 1st- I got in and later that evening I went to see an Off-Broadway Musical called “Avenue Q” it was amazing! A Parody Puppet show telling us that life isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be hehe but we should make it work for ourselves! Awesome I had tons of fun!
May 2nd- Went to a Broadway Show called “Priscilla Queen of the Desert” for those of you old enough to know the movie which is quite old, it’s a show about 3 drag queens in Australia taking their show from Sydney to Alice, Australia so that “Tick” can finally meet his son. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT! It was simply amazing! The costumes, the music, the insane-ness of it all! It was a diva show and I just absolutely adored it! I would definitely recommend you all to check it out! If you don’t feel like jumping out of your seat to sing along with them then you don’t have a musical heart in you!
May 3rd- *aka yesterday!* I went to see a live-taping of *wait for it* “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” and OMFG it was amazing! The guests of the night were Whoopi Goldberg, Jennifer Hudson, and ELMO! I had an insane time! I will definitely tell you more later on in an individual post but I just had to put this out there! It was simply amazing and I love ELMO! He gave us all free DVDs to take home with us! I am going to cherish it for life! The Roots (the band) were there as well and I just simply love them! *sigh* I want to see more Jimmy!
That’s my amazing life so far in New York it’s simply insane and I love it! I wish I could spend more time here but by then I’ll be insanely flat broke and that can’t happen!
Now onto the next topic, I’ve acquired lots of cool gadgets on this trip but some of the things I’d like to mention are:
- A brand new sparkling MacBook Pro 17″ with a 2.2Ghz Quadcore i7 Processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB HDD, and an Anti-Glare Hi-Resolution screen which is absolutely awesome!
- A brand new Black iPad 2 3G & Wifi 64GB (which took me a week to track down! Now they are available at the Apple Store in Fifth Avenue)
- A Blackberry Playbook 16GB Wifi Only Model
And those are only some of the cool things I’ve got well I guess these were my biggest purchases! I am just insanely in love with the US and wish I could move and live here but then again I would be broke all the time! I would live in the Apple Store, trust me I would! I love you sisters and parents! Thanks for this awesome time! I have a few more days left until then I will come back with some awesome posts but at the moment I just want to enjoy my insane time!
Although I’m a major Apple Fan Girl! I just pre-ordered the Blackberry Playbook (16GB Wifi Only) model just for the sake of trying it out and having it in my new library of tablets.
2011, for me is the year of the tablets, meaning I want to grab a great Android Tablet, Blackberry Tablet, and of course my ultimate favorite the iPad 2 otherwise known as the Apple Tablet.
I will be in the States at the time of the launch so I had it shipped to my sister which would be cool and awesome! I can’t wait to be waiting in her apartment for the package and then unboxing it with the rest of the world! Wooohooo!
To pre-order yours head over to the Best Buy store and you can place the order with your Paypal or Credit Cards and have it shipped to anywhere in the US including APO & FPO addresses (i.e. including Aramex/DHL/etc) []
While Blackberry was announcing the Playbook and it’s availability, some leaked shots of other devices were finding their way online.
We got a chance to see what the Blackberry Storm might look like [] .
As well as the rumored Blackberry Torch 2 which will feature some cool updates in its specs. []
Another leaked model was the Blackberry Curve “Apollo” in which an image was only given and not much of the specs or any of the other important information. []
Not to forget about the newest and most interesting leak ever, the Blackberry “Dakota” which might be a new Bold model and might not. But nonetheless it’s got awesome cool features that would make you want to grab one instantly if you were a huge fan of the Bold style. []
It’s going to be one hell of a year for Blackberry with its new units and the release of the Playbook.
It seems now that the Nokia N8 is making it out into the market every gadget reviewing blog out there is giving us bits and pieces on how usable this phone is in the real environment.
The fellows over at were able to shoot a video throwdown comparing the Nokia N8 to the iPhone 4 and Blackberry Bold 9000. Their experiment was conducted with 3 different people each using their phone to conduct simple smart phone tasks such as: sending the same email, mapping the directions to the same place, and taking a photo of the same object – they wanted to see which device was the king.
Needless to say, well you know what I won’t tell you what happened you have to just watch and find out how they all fared!

I have to admit one thing before jumping right into this post, I was about to write Playboy instead of Playbook up there, I think just have a tiny thought that Blackberry didn’t think the name through that well. We all heard what was said and all the negativity about the iPad but everyone now has one, I’m not sure about the Playbook it just sounds a little something I know Athletes have play books but oh well. On to the post.
Last night we witnessed the announcement from RIM regarding their new 7-inch multitouch “Playbook” device that should be available in Q2 2011. They are pushing it off as the “First Professional Tablet”. I am thinking they want to rival the iPad but I may be wrong about that (read: sarcasm).
The device will run the new Blackberry Tablet OS on a 1024 by 600 pixel display. It will have a 1GHz dual-core procsesor, 1GB of RAM, dual HD cameras, and support for web formats like HTML5 and Adobe Flash Player 10.1. It’ll work over Wi-Fi or shared with a Blackberry smartphone (dear apple please apply the last bit to our iPads k thx xoxo)
The Playbook will be 9.7mm thick and will have HDMI and USB ports. It will also have the capability of 1080p resolution video playback.
Pricing is not available yet but will be soon.
Everyone thought their tablet will be called “Blackpad” but I guess we were wrong. This is one device that I am not that tempted to buy.
P.S. With more 7-inch devices coming on the scene with dual cameras I’m thinking Apple will release theirs sooner than you think.

For those of you who don’t know me well, or haven’t visited my blog ever, you won’t know that I am a die-hard Apple Freak, that I love Apple Products and they bring me out of any mood and make me jump up and down like a little girl getting a popsicle if not getting her favorite Barbie doll. So to hear that I also have a Blackberry it will seriously be something interesting to find out about, because then you might just might label me as a traitor and one who has turned her back on the Apple. But trust me I haven’t. This is my mini review comparing and contrasting the two in a way that I understand or well in a way that I use my phones. So here goes:
The Apple iPhone 3G:
Ever since July 2008 I’ve had my eyes on this little bugger, I went crazy when I was in the States at the time and even stood 4 hours in line just to SEE the sucker! Therefore my relationship with this phone is a love-love relationship. The iPhone has many shortcomings, but also many features that I find are lacking in any phone today.
The Blackberry Curve 8900:
Ever since late June or early July 2009 I did not have my eyes on this phone but received it as a gift from Papa, well let’s say I was curious about it and (ananyah) bullied me into getting it as a way to talk more to her, because you know we all want our best friends in our pants :P No I mean in our pockets, wait that didn’t sound right. It is known as a smart phone but is not really a 100% smart it too has its shortcomings but in the end it’s only human, oh wait no it’s a machine so I think I need to re-phrase that but then again it’s too much to think about it.
Anywho, I will be taking a different approach to this review something that is more personal to me and not following any review standards it’ll be my personal use of the phone and what I expect from it, so here goes again:
