Who Knew This Would Happen?

August 22, 2007  |  Deep Thoughts, Stuff I Discovered

Nobody knows what will happen once they start something, once they embark on an adventure, the future is as much a mystery as, oh let’s use the cliche, God himself.  Things have a way of playing out and working in a bizarre way.  I would never in a million years have guessed that I would have reached this part in my life or grown this much into becoming an adult.  Some might argue that I am still a child in my thoughts and actions but I still beg to differ, you know what they say, “a monkey in his mother’s eyes is beautiful”, so yes I am that monkey. *cue the laughter*

When I first started writing this blog I didn’t have in mind that I would be meeting other people and getting to know different personalities and characters, I didn’t even think that I would get this personal sometimes and try to get some advice in regards to different situations, but then when did we predict something in the future and it came true?  One of the things that shocked me and shocks me still is the friendships that I have created on this blog.  I have met people literally from different parts of the world, and from different parts of the mind systems that run in our universe.  But there is one person that I would truly like to pay a tribute to her, and that person is:

nani.jpg

Ananyah, is a person that I recently met early last year through a mutual friend.  To tell you the truth, I had a short encounter with her a year ago or so, back when I was the one doing all the adding on Safat Kuwait, yes I was the goddess of Safat but things happened and I got too busy to deal with the nagging and constant whining on getting added.  So I was saying that I had a short encounter with her back then, her site wasn’t run on the WordPress platform but on a different one which was hard to extract the feeds from and add to the aggregator, I tried my best to add her but it wasn’t happening but I still got requests to be added and I started getting annoyed.  I didn’t like her at all, I might have come off as mean at one point but I don’t remember.  I piss off alot of people!

But things sort of changed when I met her through a friend, I was still a bit closed off while talking to her the first few times but then due to that mutual friend we opened up and started joking around a bit, and that broke the ice.  Soon after that we started talking quite alot and we became close friends, nothing too personal yet but we were getting there.  I introduced her to my friends and we all started having fun.  But then at certain points in your life you need a special someone to unwind your thoughts to, someone who won’t judge you and betray you, and for some strange reason I took that leap and trusted her.  I can honestly say that I am thankful that my first impression of her was completely wrong because right now she is the one I trust most and that I adore most in my life.  She is my soul mate in a weird and twisted way, she understands what I say, knows where I am coming from in my thoughts and words, and hell loves technology as much as I do.  She’s open-minded, sweet, kind, and a joy to be around, someone who is not afraid to speak her mind and let the other person know exactly what’s on it.  And that is why I truly love her.

I was sitting around today thinking of what to write but then I thought that I should pay a tribute to one of the best things that blogging has introduced to me, a small community of friends.  I know I might say sometimes that I am fed up with friends and that I don’t need any more of them but the universe has a weird sense of humor that likes to throw decent people along my way.  So what I’d like to say is I love you Mims! And hopefully we’ll be friends for good.

21st Century Renaissance Man

September 19, 2006  |  Deep Thoughts

Sitting here searching for a nice topic to write about gave me a weird idea or made me think about something I studied back in High School. Many of you might not know this but my favorite class in High School was History since I loved learning history about the different civilizations that came before us. (But I loathe the Kuwait History or the US History that schools force us to learn, Kuwait History in college and US History in High School, simply because there is not much history there to truly appreciate the knowledge being forced into your heads.) But what I wanted to mention today was the term “Renaissance Man” sometimes its written with lower-case letters and sometimes not. A quick search in Dictionary.com gave me the following definition to share with you:

a cultured man of the Renaissance who was knowledgeable, educated, or proficient in a wide range of fields.

This of course got me to thinking, knowing that Leonardo da Vinci was known as a “Renaissance Man” or a “well-rounded man” I thought about how he was called that because he was educated in many different fields and areas. He was known to many as a painter, sculptor, architect, engineer, mathematician and philosopher. He focused on four main themes: painting, architecture, the elements of mechanics and human anatomy. [Link] What I am trying to say is simply that his knowledge spanned many different areas which allowed him to be called a “renaissance man”.

In this day and age, we are faced with many new developments, one of the major ones is the technological developments and future communications revolution. There are many different and new fields out there that didn’t exist back then, so what I am thinking is that the term itself is now perhaps changing to suit this new century, no longer do arts mix that highly with sciences but then again arts have progressed and are now used as an even stronger voice of the people.

This of course all might be my crazy talk before I go to bed, and it might not be. This also might be the result of taking 2 panadols and chocolate but then again I never had any side effects there. I just have deep thoughts now. I find that the future “Renaissance Man” is one that is well versed in the technological advances made in fields such as music, science, and computers? But I think I should quit writing now because I might have lost you somewhere along the road.

Sorry again.

Weird Thoughts

September 23, 2004  |  Deep Thoughts
Well this is sort of weird, during the summer or the past few months there were some bloggers who continued to blog on a daily basis or even on an hourly basis and lately those bloggers have become idle and actually they don’t post new blog entries on the daily basis instead its more like one post per two days and such.. You see during the summer I have posted over 100 entries, in a course of a month and a half which is really short for 100 posts, and Rampurple kept on posting almost 6 posts a day, Zaydoun as well before his break kept on posting and then he took a break for a while and it was basically only Rampurple, PinkThinks, Nibaq and myself who I have witnessed the most posts from, I would always have some new posts to look at provided by those 3 people every morning or afternoon when I woke up.. Right now Rampurple doesn’t post AS much as before, PinkThinks is taking a break, Nibaq is busy with work I guess, and myself.. well I’m too tired to sit in front of the PC and post as often, I feel that my brain is completely drained..

And what I see is that this fad of blogging is fading out whenever I check my REinvigorate thingy that tells me how many hits and uniques per day.. so what I am trying to say is that those who were addicts during the last month or so have gotten over the addiction while those who took the time off have come back to become complete addicts :P Weird huh?

Future Fears

September 12, 2004  |  Deep Thoughts, My Life
* When I move you move, Just like thaaaaaaaat! When I move you move, Just like thaaaat! *

Currently listening to one of my favorite songs Ludacris – Stand Up!, and I thought I would let the creative process take over.. The future is something that I fear alot from time to time because seriously I don’t know what will happen and I used to like to plan completely ahead of myself but I figured out that whenever you plan something it will never be the same exact thing you want it to be, there is a problem that exists and that is fate or destiny has its own plan and path that doesn’t necessarily share the same plan with your own figured out things.. I am right now in the end of my Junior year, well after I finish the first semester of school I will be in my Senior year and all I would have left is a semester and that’s it..

Graduating is something very different, its a big change because I will no longer be a kid living at home and stuff , I would be an adult living at home with a degree and waiting for a job or to continue the studying.. My plan right now is only to finish my Bachelor’s degree and then start my Master’s degree.. I do not have any plans for marriage right now and I don’t feel like I wanna get married before I at least get my Master’s degree.. Because right now education is more important to me, I don’t want something such as kids or a husband to hold me back from my dreams..

True that being an English Lit Professor wasn’t my primary dream, I don’t even remember my primary dream anymore and I don’t think that I even had one, but right now my biggest fear is what if I can’t write my dissertation, I mean then everything I worked for will be out the window and I would be a worthless nothing… My main goal is to make my parents proud.. Especially dad, he deserves it, he’s exhausted himself alot and well I love him very much and my education is the way I will repay him back hehe then when I become a professor and get all that big dough :P I would buy him a sports car every few years :P and spoil him with gifts ;P He’s my Guardian Angel, my love.. I love you Daddy..

Younger Generations..

September 2, 2004  |  Deep Thoughts
Younger generations nowadays have it way more easier than we ever did.. well and sometimes harder.. I keep thinking back to when I was in Elementary school and Middle School and such.. and comparing it to what my sisters are going through now.. Because mainly we’ve been in the same school forever.. Hehehe.. I remember back in 2nd grade how Science and Maths were heheehe easy, very easy compared to today.. It seems that the newer generations have the studying part harder than we do.. but other things easier than we do.. what kinds of other things I dunno.. Can’t think of anything.. hehe I woke up at 12am LOL hehe and slept at around 2pm :P hehehe So my brain waves aren’t functioning well enough..

My father emailed me today hehehe complaining about his flight being very late taking off and the work they had to do at that time and stuff.. and I replied hehe telling him about something that I want.. hehe Typical father – daughter relationship .. Father’s expect compassion hehehehe daughters expect cashion :P hehehe another word for cash :P But I really love my father.. hehehe.. I am a typical daddy’s girl :P

Seven Deadly Sins

August 17, 2004  |  Deep Thoughts
Well many of you know and some don’t know what the 7 Deadly Sins are hehe but I will mention them briefly here, and I would like each and everyone of you to please If you don’t mind to list which is your dominant sin? :P

  1. Pride – To be full of it and have alot of pride in yourself or being proud of yourself in an exceedingly un-normal amount.
  2. Greed – Of course you know what greed is, it is wanting more money, more fame, etc.
  3. Lust – To be constantly on fire wanting more sex, basically in a nutshell :P
  4. Anger – The act of getting Angry :P
  5. Gluttony – Excess in eating or drinking, or indulging oneself with material goods
  6. Envy – Envious of others and Jealous without any border
  7. Sloth – Being very Lazy, and not doing anything
According to my trusty Encarta Encyclopedia CD, it states that:

Seven Deadly Sins, classification of sins: pride, avarice, lust, anger, gluttony, envy, and sloth. There is no foundation in the Bible for this classiffication, but the above list has been found in the works of several spiritual writers and theologians, including Saint Thomas Aquinas, a leading Roman Catholic theologian during the 13th century. Aquinas slightly modified the earlier lists of Saint John Climacus and Saint Gregory the Great. These seven sins are not singled out because they are all grievous sins or because of their severity, but because they are the inevitable source of other sins.

Basically that’s alot of talking mentioning how many writers wrote about these sins and established them as deadly such as Christopher Marlowe in his work Doctor Faustus, and many others.

Anyways, I guess my dominant sin would be Sloth, what’s yours? Feel free to comment please.

August 1, 2004  |  Deep Thoughts
I will stop complaining once and for all, well that is if I can achieve this tiny little goal.. but who knows.. Anyways today was my Shakespeare Final, man was that a cool one, the short answer questions were a piece of cake but the essay required some thinking.. which of course on 2 hours of sleep is barely possible. . (OK I think I am complaining again but oh well..) The essay question was as follows:

“Both Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus and William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night deal with the issue of reality versus appearance. How is this subject presented in both plays? What are the realities and appearances in both plays? What did the writers aim at/try to say through their representations of the realities and fantasies in their dramas?”

So I began writing alot of jibberish and junk but you know in reality i had many different views and ideas that I wanted to express but didn’t get the chance to.. or sometimes couldn’t because of the word shortage and writer’s block.. you know being an English Literature major and having just finished a course in criticism, it is time to apply the various critical theory methods to the great literature writers of all time. So back to the actual question asked in the exam, I began discussing the various scenes in which Marlowe and Shakespeare (The Only Greatest Writer in ALL of English Literature) displayed their theme of appearance versus reality, and how to both writers religion, women, homosexuality, and deception was basically one of the things they were concerned with alot. Because, Marlowe in his play Doctor Faustus mocked religion in Faustus’s request of asking the devil Mephastophilis to go and come back as a Franciscan friar, basically to allude to the fact that what you think is a highly religious man is in fact the opposite. Reality always always *well in certain people or situations or whatever* is 100% different than the actual appearence of things in life. [Man I seem to be enjoying this topic for some reason hehe dunno why all of a sudden I sound highly analytical and stuff] Ok so Marlowe discussed reality versus appearance of religion with that situation while Shakespeare in Twelfth Night used Malvolio as his pawn or whatever, anyways Malvolio appeared to everyone as the “highly religious” puritan of his time yet in reality he was just another corrupted man who had no sense of right religion and stuff, he was easily manipulated and gulliable to the scheme of Maria and Sir Toby and well he seriously made a fool of himself. Women for both Marlowe and Shakespeare were portrayed as probably naughty, unfaithful, decieving objects and that they are the source of all corruption. Shakespeare used Viola, who disguised herself as a man (Which in reality is a boy, dressed as a woman, disguised back as a man) and she falls in love with Orsino, and displays feelings to him, and he falls in love with her too but doesn’t show it completely. Whereas, Olivia as well falls in love with Viola’s male persona and this all implies a homosexual relationship and shit you know.. :r Marlowe, uses Faustus’s request for a wife as the excuse to bring the “image of women” into the scene, where he brought in a devil dressed as a woman, and we don’t even know if that devil was a man or a woman, if it was a man then there is the homosexual motive or relationship or whatever.. hehehe Anyways I believe the reason all of those 16th century writers well, Marlowe and Shakespeare to be specific , yea the reason for their use of women as decievers, devils, and corrupting people is that EVE was the reason we are all damned on Earth, and that she made Adam eat that apple, and because of her A WOMAN.. MAN suffers..

Finally, at the end of this long post, I would like to say, hopefully I didn’t bullshit alot and that I do well on this essay question because hehehe my grade is at stake LOL :P
