I’ve been converting a lot of my friends and family to the iPhone and I am so proud of it, but it gets hectic sometimes recommending to each individual person the things that I think they should get. So, , gave me the idea to start a series on my blog in which I put up my recommendations and have others check them out and see them. In today’s series you will see my recommended lenses for your iPhone 4/4S. It’s no secret that the iPhone 4 & 4S have powerful cameras and what better way to take advantage than by using and abusing the third party accessories and making your phone into an even more awesome camera.
So here goes:
1. : A three in one clip on lens kit that allows you to have a wide-angle, fisheye, and macro lens all in one. Easy to snap onto your iPhone (without a case though) and gives you amazing pictures.
Personally, I didn’t like the wide angle much as I didn’t feel it gave me much of amazing picture quality there is a blur on the sides but then again it’s not that noticable. The fisheye lens had a black frame when taking photos but when shooting video it looks awesome! The best lens of them all is the macro as it gives you an amazing amount of detail just by holding your phone so close to the object you’re snapping a picture of.
P.S. My recommendation is to shoot a video in macro mode the video will just blow you away! Check it out in action below.

Note: If you have a sticker on the back of your phone it could scratch it or misplace it as it’s meant to get on a completely naked iPhone.
2. This is an iPhone case that turns your phone into a retro camera. It offers not only one but many filters and all without removing the case and attaching it (i.e. not like the olloclip). You get 10 filters to choose from. There are 5 colorful filters, 3 Kaliedoscope filters, a macro lens, and an empty slot that gives you the holga effect without any additional colors.
Personally, I love this case the best thing about it is the fact that it’s a case and it’s not hurting the gelaskin that is on my phone. I can snap it on and leave it on if I want to without worrying that I might damage the filters. Choosing between the filters is quite easy as all it takes is rotating the filter. The macro lens here still performs well maybe even as well as the olloclips. But one of my favorite lenses on it is the plain holga effect and the heart shaped colorful filter. It sure is a fun thing to have around. Check it out in action.

3. This photo is by PhotoJojo (one of the most awesome websites for photographers) and what this gives you is 8x zoom for your iPhone . The lens comes with the telephoto lens, cleaning cloth, tripod and mount, iPhone Case, and a carrying pouch as well.
Personally, this was an impulse buy I found it while shopping out and about and thought why not since I had the other cases coming soon. In the best ideal light situation you get amazing pictures without harming your phone or anything, just pop in your iPhone into the case, screw on the lens and you will be able to take photos instantly! Back in October 2010 I found out about Instagram through the iTunes App Store, I immediately downloaded it and started playing with it, little did I know I would be infatuated with it this much! It’s been a year since I’ve used it and I still love it like the day it was launched. I love it to the point that the first week I had to submit my “App of the Week” recommendation to the newspaper I chose “Instagram” as my first app to feature!
What is it?
Instagram is: A fast, beautiful and fun way to share photos directly from your iPhone. Founded by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.
So from their launch day October 6th 2010 to a year later they are celebrating over 2 million users and a bunch load of awesome features. I thought it would be awesome to share with you my stats from this amazing app and later on I’ll give you special links as to what else you can do with it.
I’ve loved using it and spreading the love in pictures and feel that many of you will feel the same way as well, thanks to everyone who follows me out there and to the new followers and thanks to just everyone!

Today was the day my iPhone 4S flew from my hands, it actually flew! Seriously I’m not kidding!
I was on my way upstairs to my room when this happened, going up the stairs from the basement I reached the ground floor of our house and in one hand I had my iPhone 4S, I was checking a whatsapp message from Sister #3 (aka Your Battlefield) when all of a sudden my phone flies out of my hand and lands in the basement!
Our house is made of granite floors!
I immediately gasped and raised my hand to my heart and ran down the stairs to check on my baby hoping that none of it shattered to pieces. I turned on the lights and immediately start to look around searching for my baby. I found the case I had my phone in face down and immediately I worried that the front of it had shattered to pieces. I turn it over and realize there is no phone in it! It’s just the case there!!!!!
I continue to search frantically until I find it a few feet away and it too was facing down! I was about to cry, my feet were about to give in when I turned it around and saw that nothing happened to the front nor back glass of the phone. I was relieved to say the least but I went about checking my baby as if it were in fact a baby, checking for internal bleeding and all that jazz.
It was turned off, and I worried that it won’t work again, fortunately after turning it back on everything was working, except when I noticed the chipping up top where the plastic meets the antennas! Its a minor fracture not noticable to the naked eye but its still there.
My heart literally stopped today and started back up when this all happened. I am attached to my children (yes I call all my electronic devices children and well even though it’s sad it’s true) and so this happening wasn’t easy on me.
All is well again in the world, and let’s hope this is the only fall it will ever experience! And no I won’t buy another phone just because this one is fractured. The only major thing was that the case got a bigger chip and in my books better the case than my child!

The app also has the ability to use AirPlay which you can use to stream Box content to an Apple TV for effortless projection of photos, videos, presentations and more.
Sounds great? Then rush over there and grab it! I did the second I heard about it.

On October 7th I woke up really early even though I had only 2-4 hours of sleep I made sure to wake up to pre-order my iPhone 4S and make sure I was one of the first few to get it on launch day! Unfortunately the US Apple Store did not have the unlocked version available for sale until November so I headed over to the UK Apple Store and was able to place an order at around 10AM it was crazy didn’t get my confirmation letter until late that evening but well worth the wait.
Last Friday October 14th it was delivered to my Aramex UK mailbox and I anxiously waited for it to arrive to Kuwait, but unfortunately due to some trouble with people who didn’t log in the shipment my baby was not shipped until Monday (thanks to the Shop and Ship team on twitter @Shopandship) it was rushed over here and I got it today! WEDNESDAY that was the fastest shipment ever!
I am so happy and enjoying the unboxing experience as well as Siri, will review it shortly just thought I would make you all iJealous as I was these past few days.
I got the 64GB White model whereas father ordered the 32GB White model as well. Oh yeah and Thanks Daddy! This was my early birthday gift! [He's still going to the US on my birthday will have him bring me something else from there, after all I am daddy's little girl :P]
So yeah there you have it! I got it for 305KD from the UK Apple Store + 7.800KD Shipping for both iPhones which still makes it cheaper than those thieves at XCite Electronics!
P.S. I am still getting the iPhone 5 next year or probably it will be called iPhone 6 because it is the 6th generation! It was the last project Papa Steve Jobs was working on closely before he passed away :(

The main focus of the event was the , judging by the name of it “Let’s talk iPhone” however most of you out there will feel that this update lacked the hype that we were seeing the past few weeks in which everyone expected it to be the launch of the “iPhone 5” a redesigned iPhone. Let’s face it I thought the same as well but judging by the updates we’ve seen today it is still something good and not to be shunned away. I personally will be purchasing a brand new iPhone since I’ve been wanting a White one and the selling feature for me was the increased capacity (yes I eat capacity from my iPhone!)
Judging by the looks of it, the has the same outside design as the current iPhone 4 but it’s the inside that has change, after all beauty is within a person (or in this case device). It has the same retina display available in today’s device and the same glass on the back but let’s try to see what’s new.
So what’s new with the ?
- It has an A5 Chip which is up to 2 times faster than before, with dual-core graphics which are said to be 7 times faster than previous iPhone (Yay SPEED!)
- Battery life has improved to 8 hrs for 3G Talk time, 14 hrs for 2G Talk time, 6 hrs for 3G browsing, 9 hrs for Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hrs for Video, and 40 hrs for music. “Fantastic battery life.” (Let’s hope it actually performs that way!)
- It has a completely redesigned antenna system for the iPhone 4S making the device the first phone to intelligently switch between antennas for sending and receiving. It also supports both GSM & CDMA technology, and supports HSDPA download speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps, twice that of the iPhone 4. (Wooohooo Faster downloads!)
- It includes an all new camera with the most advanced optics of any phone. The 8 megapixel sensor has 60% more pixels so you can take amazing high quality photos with more detail than ever. It includes a new custom lens, a larger f/2.4 aperture and an advanced hybrid IR filter that produces sharper, brighter and more accurate images. It has backside illumination that gives you 73% more light. It’s faster too – one third quicker! There is a new image signal processor that Apple designed, enabling face detection and 26 % better balance.
- The camera is now fully capable of recording 1080p HD resolution videos with video image stabilization and temporal noise reduction.
- Airplay Mirroring is now available on the iPhone 4S and so amazing to watch yourself playing the game on a big screen TV wirelessly!
- Comes with iOS5 built-in.
- It comes with Siri, an intelligent assistant that helps you get things done just by asking it nicely. It is launching as a beta with support for English, French, and German, additional languages will be added later. Siri basically lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is so easy to use and does so much, you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use it.
And that is basically most of the new features of the brand new . You want to know how much it costs? Well the 16GB model is selling for $199, 32GB model is selling for $299, and the brand new [yes you heard it right] 64GB model is selilng for $399 (with a 2 year contract). The unlocked version prices should be available soon. It will be available for pre-order on October 7th with availability in retail stores and shipping date of October 14th in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom.
The iPhone 4S will debut in an additional 22 countries by the end of October (October 28th). Those countries include: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. I was somewhat disappointed with the event with the lack of an updated redesigned iPhone 5 but at the same time I expected the iPhone 4S since Apple recently redesigned it so it was just too soon. So I will be getting a brand new one, a white 64GB model to add to my collection courtesy of an early birthday present from father dearest!
P.S. The iPhone 4 is now available in 8GB model for 99$ and the iPhone 3GS 8GB model for Free.
I just wanted to rush out and say that the iPhone 4 is now available officially with Zain Kuwait! They have followed VIVA’s announcement made last April however I believe Zain has some awesome offers the prices are definitely lower than VIVA’s as you can see! [True the Phone plans of VIVA are better but to each their own]
