Earlier last week, I became the proud mother of a brand new MacBook Pro Retina Display, on July 23rd 2012 to be exact. I couldn’t describe the happiness I felt at the prospect of holding my own customized child (yes I refer to my gadgets as children I’m weird like that). For those of you following me on Instagram and Twitter you got to deal with the whole conception process (the act of me placing the order on June 22nd) all the way until the credit card was deducted, the packages were shipped, the moment they arrived at my DHL Borderlinx box, all the way to the moment it got delivered to my home! It took 1 whole month but it was well worth the wait.
I have had a week to play around with it and I am basically in love, everything looks crystal clear on it and it’s super fast! Super thin and light as well it doesn’t really feel as heavy as my MacBook Pro 17″ but at the same time not as light as my MacBook Air 11″. In an upcoming post I will write about what I fell in love with in regards to the device but as for the moment I would like to share with you my unboxing pictures.
Just as my new child (I mean MacBook Pro with Retina Display) is about to arrive, it cleared customs today and will be picked up tomorrow inshalla, the shipping times have improved for new orders of the MacBook Pro Retina Display. They have gone down from 3 – 4 weeks to 2- 3 weeks last week. But I just found out that the timings have shifted to 1-2 weeks!
So if you were looking forward to grabbing one, now is your chance and the wait won’t be as severe as it was for me! In a few days I will have waited for an entire month! Man, I feel like I was actually pregnant for a month and gave birth to this lovely creature!
It took me a short while but after searching endlessly through all the couches in the house, underneath my bed, and everywhere else really I have finally placed the order on my brand new customized MacBook Pro Retina Display! Yippeeee!
I know, I know, every single person who reads this blog and who knows me in real life will go “What the hell do you need that one for!” and well I will simply answer “just because…” No seriously, you see I currently have a MacBook Pro 17″ Early 2011 (which happens to be my main computer) I have it connected to a 27″ Apple Cinema Display and I also have a MacBook Air 13″ Late 2011 (which happens to be the computer I use at work now since I hate *Shitdows*) and last but not least I have the MacBook Air 11″ Late 2010 (which is my take with me when I wear a smaller bag everywhere laptop!)
You see since I already have the 17″, 13″, and 11″ quotas filled I seem to have a gap with the 15″ line and that’s where the brand new MacBook Pro Retina Display fits! Not to mention that drool worthy screen that will make you eyegasm every time you see something with it! I simply placed an order on the:
- 2.6 GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz
- 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (Upgraded from 8GB Standard option)
- 512GB Flash Storage
And although I placed an order on Wednesday June 20th with an estimated ship date of July 19 – 26, that order for some reason got cancelled, but rest assured I placed it again and the shipping estimate is now July 20 – 26 and I seriously can’t wait!
Oh and yeah I ordered another one for a friend of mine, he took the maxed out version but not with a maxed out processor since really the 2.7GHz doesn’t make a difference it’s the RAM that’s important.
I am a self proclaimed procrastinator, lazy girl, couch potato, everything that requires just plopping down in an area and sitting there doing nothing is what I’m great at (wait did that make sense?) In short, I am so lazy that recently it has taken its toll on me, I tried to become more active, joined a gym in 2009, subscribed for a year but went for only 2 months if not less, then I joined another gym in 2010 also for a year and went for 15 times in 3 months. I just couldn’t seem to find the time especially since I had an 8 -4 job that was in Kuwait City and the commute (hehe you’d think I’m living all the way in Dubai by the way this sounds) well the commute takes more than 30 minutes in the morning because of traffic and in the evening around 30 minutes. I would arrive home pooped out, have my lunch if I hadn’t eaten at the office, take a nap, then sit online watching my TV Shows and reading my feeds. The cycle would continue day after day. Well I think I am trying something new but it’s cheaper than a gym membership. What is the easiest way to get more active?
Why it’s with the Nike Fuel Band!
I had a friend who was in the US,an angel more like it grab me one from the Nike Town store in NYC, and the minute I got it on May 31st I started putting it to the test. I will tell you in the following paragraphs what it is and what it does for you and whether you should go ahead and grab one or not. So let’s get cracking.
Now that we’ve established I have been under the weather with the flu/cold I can get back to talking about what happened this weekend. Late Thursday after attending the Nike Store opening in Al Bida’a (more on that later this week) I came home and found a lovely surprise waiting for me!
A new gadget to unbox! You see I have a sickness called “gadgetitis” (my own word, simply means the act of being obsessed with gadgets that one has to at least have an unboxing of a new tech toy once a month). My gadgetitis was diagnosed almost 7 years ago till this day and there literally has been no cure. [I bet you thought I was joking right? I'm serious I've got that disease, it's really hard living with it :P]
