Since March has just begun, I didn’t think it would be helpful to jump the gun and call this the March Edition but shows that were renewed and cancelled these past two weeks will be making it to the list. So what’s been cleared off our lists and what’s been renewed? Well, let me put on my TV Cap and get to reporting!
First up in the RENEWALS is the BET original series BEING MARY JANE starring the ever beautiful GABRIELLE UNION as Mary Jane Paul. Mary Jane is a one-woman show: a successful TV news anchor, entirely self-sufficient powerhouse who remains devoted to a family that doesn’t share her insane motivation. Some might say that her family has too much drama sometimes it can slow her down. In this series we get to see Mary Jane struggle to juggle her work life, her family, her love life and so much more. In a way, we are all Mary Janes and we can sometimes be insanely smart and right; and then the other times we’d make stupid decisions. I LOVED the first season and really kept watching it until it ended and even then I wanted more, I am just so happy it was renewed and I will get to see more of BEING MARY JANE.
What else was renewed and cancelled?
January is almost over and there have been many cancellations and renewals of our favorite shows (or rather just some of mine) so here is the latest updated list of cancellations and renewals.
First up in the cancellations, is the new HBO tv show “HELLO LADIES“. This new comedy show was co-written, directed by and starring Stephen Merchant. The series follows a 6 foot 7 inch gawky englishman who is searching for the woman of his dreams in Los Angeles. He thinks he’s the shizzles, charming insanely amazing dude, but he comes off as a major douche bag who is just trying too hard. The series follows him around and we see the failed love encounters if you can call them that.
That’s not all, let’s see who else got the ax this early on in the season.
I’ve been procrastinating this post for the past 3 weeks actually I had most of it done and then stopped, new premiere dates for TV Shows came up and I added those then stopped before I was done and more shows, lather rinse repeat. Fortunately I pushed myself to finish the graphic I had for this post and thus I present to you, the ‘Mid-Season TV Shows 2014 Premiere Dates‘. I’ve actually started watching a few of those shows and I have actually fallen in love with some.
So, these past few weeks we saw the returns of many of our favorite shows such as “Episodes“, “House of Lies“, “Shameless“, “Girls“, “Single Ladies“, “Switched at Birth“, “The Fosters“, “The Following“, “Cougar Town“, “Pretty Little Liars“, “Ravenswood“, “Psych“, “American Idol“, “Baby Daddy“, “Melissa & Joey“, “Men at Work“, “Suburgatory“, “Community“, “Saving Hope“, “Banshee“, and “Hollywood Game Night“.
But the list doesn’t stop there because we also saw the premieres of “True Detective” (haven’t seen it yet), “Looking” (it is said to be the male version of ‘Girls’), “Intelligence” (haven’t tackled the few episodes), “Bitten” (absolutely LOVE THIS SHOW! WEREWOLVES!), “Chozen” (couldn’t get through the first episode), “Killer Women” (actually LIKED this show it was kind of funky different, I can’ t wait for new episodes!), “Being Mary Jane” (THIS IS A MUST SEE!!!! GABRIELLE UNION LOVE!), “Chicago PD” (still haven’t seen it), “Rake” (premiered last weekend it was kind of cool not sure though how it will play out), “Enlisted” (a comedy about the failures in the Army hehe kind of funny and cool), and “Helix” (haven’t seen it yet).
I can’t wait for the other shows to premiere later on in the next two months and the return of giants such as “Game of Thrones“, “Veep“, “Mad Men“, and more.
P.S. “Mr. Selfridge” has just returned as well with 2 episodes under its belt into the second season.
More and more shows are facing the big ax and being cancelled whether it is during the current season or being allowed to air for one final season and then it will be a good-bye. While others are seeing a renewal and pick up, in today’s batch I have a few shows listed which are either cancelled or renewed while also supplying you with information about when some shows will be airing their latest seasons and more.
On the renewals, “WITCHES OF EAST END” has been picked up for a second season. This new show is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s best selling novel, it centers on the adventures of a mother and her two adult daughters – both of whom unknowingly are their family’s next generation of witches – who lead a seemingly quiet uneventful modern day lives in a secluded seaside town of North Hampton called ‘Fair Haven’. The mother and aunt are cursed with immortality curses one of them being an eternal mother (which means when her daughters die [which they always do] she becomes pregnant again and gives birth to the same daughters all over again) and the other has 9 lives like a cat. It’s fun and interesting and I am loving each episode because it reminds me of “CHARMED” in a way. I’m happy it’s got a new season.
Some of these new show pick ups will come as a shock to others such as “Dads” (which in my opinion should’ve been cancelled a while back) and some might not surprise you such as “The Originals” but it’s news for the most part along with some veteran show renewals and cancellations. So if you’re a TV Show junkie like I am, then you’ll find the below information quite interesting.
“DADS” is a new multi-camera comedy about two successful guys in their 30s who have their lives turned upside down when their nightmare dads unexpectedly move in with them. Starring Seth Green (Family Guy) as Eli and Giovanni Ribisi (My Name is Earl) as Warner who are lifelong best friends and co-founders of Ghost Child Games, a successful video game company. Vanessa Lachey (as Camila) Martin Mull (as Crawford – Warner’s Dad) and Peter Riegert (as David – Eli’s Dad) also star. I personally found the show offensive sometimes and just too much of a cliche to continue watching but it is a distraction so proceed at your own risk.
