And now that the cable networks have finalized the list of their shows that are either being renewed or cancelled, it has come my time to share that bit of information with you. This time however, I will follow my usual format of posting the results in an image format. There were in total 94 scripted shows that aired on the ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, and NBC Networks and of those shows only 55 were renewed while the remaining 39 were given the ax. This basically means that 58.51% of TV Shows were renewed while a shockingly 41.49% were cancelled, pretty much half of the shows aired were either cancelled or ended (i.e. #HowIMetYourMother and #Nikita). So what are their fates, let’s get started!
Who got renewed? Well for starters, some shows were given a renewal for a final season meaning that by next year they will be dunzo, gone off the air. NBC has given #Parenthood a sixth and final season of 13 episodes which will allow the show to go out on 100 episodes, while #ParksAndRecreation was given a seventh and final season as well.
Because I am a TV junkie I love sharing any article that comes my way in regards to any new show out there. I was recently referred to the below article written by Diana Price for CableTV and thought what better way to enlighten my readers than to give you a sweet little glimpse and point you right back to the original source.
Colin Hanks has carved out his own distinguished acting career in the shadow of his father, Tom, and his latest role is in the critically-acclaimed FX series “Fargo.” As Gus Grimly, Hanks plays a meek police officer who, in a pivotal scene of the premier, lets bad guy Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) get away after he pulls him over for routine traffic stop. And we aren’t talking a mere oversight here; Malvo tells him point blank he’s a bad guy and it’s in his best interest to just let him go for his and his daughter’s sake, and Gus does.
We joined Hanks on a media call to discuss the complexities of his flawed but well-meaning character, and in particular, getting that scene right.
I was sitting here preparing the list of “TV Renewals & Cancellations” and realized that the list showcasing the premiere dates was just getting too long, so I decided to chop them up into two posts. Without further ado, I give you a condensed list of what shows will be premiering this summer.
Personally, I can’t wait for JUNE 22 to watch my favorite cop drama ROOKIE BLUE!
March and April have both ended by now and many shows were given the green light or red light respectively. I am here to share with you the latest news and what shows you should keep on watching and what shows are about to leave your little screens!
First up in the renewals is the CBS comedy series THE MILLERS starring the hilarious Will Arnett as Nathan Miller, a recently divorced guy who finds out his parents are getting a divorce simply because he took the first step. The series starts off with the news of his parents divorce Carol (Margo Martindale) and Tom (Beau Bridges) and how each parent decides to move in with each of the siblings. Carol (the mom) moves in with Nathan, whereas Tom (the dad) moves in with their daughter Debbie (Jayma Mays). The series is mostly fun and easy to watch and the talents of both Margo Martindale and Beau Bridges make it hilariously funny. I am personally happy with this renewal!
Since March has just begun, I didn’t think it would be helpful to jump the gun and call this the March Edition but shows that were renewed and cancelled these past two weeks will be making it to the list. So what’s been cleared off our lists and what’s been renewed? Well, let me put on my TV Cap and get to reporting!
First up in the RENEWALS is the BET original series BEING MARY JANE starring the ever beautiful GABRIELLE UNION as Mary Jane Paul. Mary Jane is a one-woman show: a successful TV news anchor, entirely self-sufficient powerhouse who remains devoted to a family that doesn’t share her insane motivation. Some might say that her family has too much drama sometimes it can slow her down. In this series we get to see Mary Jane struggle to juggle her work life, her family, her love life and so much more. In a way, we are all Mary Janes and we can sometimes be insanely smart and right; and then the other times we’d make stupid decisions. I LOVED the first season and really kept watching it until it ended and even then I wanted more, I am just so happy it was renewed and I will get to see more of BEING MARY JANE.
What else was renewed and cancelled?
