Ever since the beginning of May news of some shows that were being renewed and canceled were circulating the web but we can now bring you the important details of what was renewed and what shows weren’t.
FOX have announced the renewals of the following shows: “Bones” (7th Season), and “House” (8th Season). Those shows joined the ranks of the already renewed other shows: “American Dad” (8th Season), “Bob’s Burgers” (2nd Season), “The Cleveland Show” (3rd Season), “Family Guy” (10th Season), “Fringe” (4th Season), “Glee” (3rd Season), “Raising Hope” (2nd Season), and “The Simpsons” (23rd Season).
However, most of the new shows and existing ones did not make the cut and were sent out on the chopping block, those shows include: “Breaking In”, “The Chicago Code”, “Human Target”, “Lie to Me”, “Traffic Light”, “Running Wilde”, and “Lone Star”..
The verdict is still out on “American Idol” however it is mostly likely going to be renewed.
With 7 shows out of the running it made room for some new pilots that will be premiering in the Fall Line-up, a look at those shows will be taken before the season starts in hopes that they do not canceled beforehand.
Late April, “The CW” announced it’s renewals for the next season of Fall 2011 – 2012 and within the announcement came the renewals of fan favorite shows; “The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl,” “Supernatural,” “90210,” and “America’s Next Top Model”.
No word has been given yet in regards to the freshman series “Hellcats,” and “Nikita”; nor any information about “One Tree Hill.”
“The Vampire Diaries”, this author’s ultimate favorite show is now the most-watched show on the network, and thankfully that gives it a chance to return for a third season of blood-sucking vampires, werewolfs, witches, and so much more in our beloved Mystic Falls. It also means more Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena Gilbert/Katerina Petrova (Nina Dobrev) so hurray for the renewal.
“Gossip Girl” and “90210” also remain some of the popular series on the network being aimed at the younger demographics therefore the renewal in this case came as no surprise. “Supernatural” will see its 7th Season in the fall, as will “America’s Next Top Model” who will see it’s 17th season.
To the shows that were renewed, yaaay! And to those who weren’t we wish them the best of luck in the axed yard.

Earlier this month, NBC announced that they were renewing 3 of it’s favorite comedies “Community”, “Parks & Recreation”, and “The Office”.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise but it is a welcome relief as fans all over the world let out that breath they’ve been holding. Earlier on, “30 Rock” had received another season order, thus with the above 3 sitcoms getting renewals the Thursday Night Comedy line up on NBC is safe. We have yet to hear about the fate of the all new sitcom “Perfect Couples” and “Outsourced”, however signs do not point to successful results as they are struggling with their ratings.
The announcement from Bob Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, makes everything official in which he mentions the below:
I am so pleased to renew these three outstanding comedies which are all at the top of their game creatively,” said Greenblatt. “Along with ’30 Rock,’ they represent the best of what the NBC comedy brand stands for in terms of originality, wit, and sophistication. ‘The Office’ continues to fire on all cylinders on the most competitive night of television; ‘Parks & Recreation’ has come into its own this season as the rightful companion to ‘The Office’; and ‘Community’ is one of the freshest comedies on any network and a solid foundation for Thursday night.
Here is hoping our favorite shows continue to get good ratings and receive renewals in the upcoming month.

May is creeping closer to us, and it’s officially that time of the year where networks proceed to cancel some of their lowest performing shows. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that HBO has decided to pull the plug and cancel their show “In Treatment”.
“In Treatment” follows Dr. Paul Weston’s therapy sessions and his clients in contrast with his sessions between him and his own therapist (kind of like a therapy within a therapy). It is currently in its 3rd season and officially its last. The series was a success in the previous years in which it won some awards, however viewership for Season 3 has heavily fallen to its lowest point drawing in only 259,000 viewers. HBO is however keeping the door open for future projects of the show which means we might be able to see spin-off’s or a similar show in the near future.

So in the past few weeks lots of things were happening in the TV World some of which we’d like to report are as follows:
- Charlie Sheen has been fired from “Two and a Half Men”, he had one season left on his contract for the show however due to the recent situation between Sheen and Chuck Lorre the producer of the show, CBS and Warner Bros have decided to fire him. It is no surprise given how Sheen is going on the social media sites and claiming he’s a “Winner” and has “Tiger Blood” and is living with porn stars also known as his “goddesses” things don’t seem to be going well for Mr. Sheen. [Link]
- “How I Met Your Mother” a CBS sitcom about how a guy met his wife has been renewed for two more seasons, this is amazing news as we all would love to know how Ted met his wife however this could also mean that we’ll have 2 years to sit around and wonder who the mother is, but overall it’s great news I can’t wait to see more Barney! [Link]
- We’ve got some cool random news here about “The Vampire Diaries” actress Arielle Kibbel joining a new ABC show called “Hallelujah” as well as some news about Natalie Dormer (aka Anne Boelyn from “The Tudors”) who will be starring in a series called “Poe” in which she will play Celeste, a woman with a “firm moral center” [Link]
More news will be coming your way with some updates soon.
We would like to appologize for the unannounced hiatus we took these past few weeks, lots of awesome and depressing news happened in the TV world and we are ready to give you the gist of things. Just bear with us and be sure to watch out for the upcoming articles.
The family from TV @ Couchavenue would like to express to you how deeply they’ve missed reporting the news lately.
Earlier this month ABC announced its renewal to a bunch of their shows, eight shows to be exact, they included:
A renewal of “Pretty Little Liars” for a second season, along with their other series “Secret Life of the American Teenager” for its fourth season. The announcement was made during ABC Family’s panel at the Television Critics Association Press. ”Pretty Little Liars” brought in high ratings in June 2010 and keeps on bringing high numbers. It’s a series based on the novels by Sara Shepard, which tells the story of four girls who lose their queen bee only to be terrorized by the person whom they think may have killed their friend. ”Secret Life of the American Teenager” has been a ratings hit ever since its launch and it tells the story of a teenager getting pregnant in high school and the way she has to deal with it. [Link]
ABC also announced a renewal for six other shows: “Grey’s Anatomy” and it’s sister series “Private Practice each renewed for an eighth and fifth season; “Castle” gets a fourth season; “Modern Family”, “Cougar Town” and “The Middle” were each renewed for a third season making their Wednesday Comedy Block solid! [Link]
Shows not yet renewed include: “Detroit 1-8-7″, “Desperate Housewives”, “Brothers and Sisters”, and “Better With You”. Here is hoping there is more good news to go around.
CBS made a big announcement late last week in which they renewed “The Big Bang Theory” for three more seasons all the way until 2014.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this show is seriously a winner in the comedy line-up and in their latest stint to get back into the Thursday Comedy lineup, CBS changed the airing time of “The Big Bang Theory” from Mondays to Thursdays, this stint didn’t even hurt the show! It’s still raking in the high ratings, it’s averaging 13.89 million viewers and ended the year 2010 as the No. 1 scripted series in adults 18-49.
It’s an awesome thing that it’s been renewed for 3 years, that way we won’t have to worry about premature cancellation. Good Job Big Bang Theory Guys! Here is to more Sheldon-Leonard-Raj-Howard-Penny shenanigans!

The USA Network keeps hitting home runs ever since they introduced “White Collar” “Royal Pains” “Burn Notice” “Psych” and their last summer project “Covert Affairs” so it’s no surprise that they have another bread-winner on their block “Fairly Legal”. A new series that just oozes awesomeness if this trailer is enough. I personally have downloaded the Pilot episode as it aired early last week and can’t wait to watch it!
“Fairly Legal” stars Sarah Shahi as Kate Reed, a woman who has left her position as a lawyer at her family law firm to become a mediator. Her frustration at the legal system is what leads her to this new path, in which she thinks that justice can always be found even if it’s not in court. This series stars Virginia Williams as her stepmother Lauren, Michael Trucco as her soon to be ex-husband Justin, and Baron Vaughn as her resourceful assistant Leonardo. It oozes sexiness and so much more!
I can’t wait!
